In this session, we cover the core vital settings for your camera, get you out of the dreaded AUTO mode, and showing you tips and tricks for focus and controlling image quality and exposure.
This is a 'special event' session designed to get you up to speed fast! The course is designed for virtually all interchangeable lens cameras (mirrorless or DSLR). Popular camera models from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Fuji and Panasonic would all benefit from the topics covered.
While the class covers a lot of topics in a relatively short period of time, we ensure that your learning is augmented by providing access to a complete set of downloadable digital student notes for after class reference. Taking notes during the class is not necessary, but you may do so.
This class includes all of, but is not limited to:
Core image quality settings (JPG options, shooting in RAW)
- Introduction to menus (how to navigate, change settings if needed)
- Exploring your cameras 'quick' menu (most camera models)
- Setting and controlling your cameras focus options to ensure sharpness on your intended subject
- Taking greater control over image exposure when that camera fails to get it right
- Understanding ISO settings and maximizing the potential power of ISO
- White balance control for accurate OR creative colour in your images
- Exploration of the built-in scene modes in your camera (most models) to ensure better results in specific scenarios (sports, portraiture, landscapes, etc)
Who Should Attend?
This class is ideal for people who are relatively new to their cameras and wish to ensure that the camera is set up optimally and gain some insight as to how to get great results with minimal effort. The class is designed as a single session fast-track primer and to get you out of AUTO mode. If you want to improve your photography and take greater control of the results, this is an excellent starting point.
Please note: this class is designed for mirrorless or DSLR interchangeable lens cameras. It is not suitable for simple point and shoot cameras. This class is NOT required as a pre-requisite should you wish to attend the Photo 101 4-week online course.
